The Enterprise Ireland's ICT Showcase event on the 6th October 2008 has been a success. Ten very high quality close-to-market technologies were presented. Commercialisation opportunities from 9 top Irish research institutions were demonstrated. 11 posters describing the state-of-the-art applied researches were exhibited. There were more than 170 attendees. Many were coming from the VC/investor communities. 41 entrepreneurs attended and some were probably looking for new opportunities. There were a number of CEOs/CTOs/senior managers from the ICT industry and many of them were interested in seeking collaboration with the leading ICT researchers in Ireland. During the event 33 one-to-one meetings were conducted and many more discussions happened around the coffee areas. A special congratulation goes to Ronan Farrell, who received the ICT Commercialisation Award this year for the achievement in his commercialisation efforts.
My colleagues from EI and InvestNet were excellent in helping me with everything from logistics to publicity to final setup and follow-ups. Brian Caulfield was great in chairing the event. Of course the most important key to the success of the event was the quality of the researches/technologies exhibited and the amount of interests expressed by the attendees of the event. It looks very hopeful that some of these technologies will be translated into commercial outputs in Ireland soon. The event is finished now, but there are still plenty of follow-ups to do. I better go back to do some works now….
